Best Spades Apps and Sites: Where to Play Spades Online

There are dozens of places to play spades online. This guide covers the ones that come up most, and what each is good at: playing real people, playing with friends, house rules and jokers, offline play, and how much the game is built around ads and purchases. Every description is from the site’s own pages or its App Store listing, as of October 2026. Apps change often, so check the listing before you install.

Quick picks

Browser sites

cardgames.io

A plain, quick spades game against three computer players, with a multiplayer lobby for playing real people (it needs cookies enabled). Options include game speed, a dark theme and spread cards. It’s free and shows ads. Good for a fast game with no sign-up.

Spades 247

A free browser game of classic partnership spades. You pick a difficulty and the first hand is dealt straight away, and the page has a rules guide and tactics.

World of Card Games

Play against the computer, pair up with other players online, or create a private table and invite friends. There are also ranked games against more experienced players. Private tables can change some rules: for example, the bag penalty can be turned off. Its page says 8.5 million games of spades had been played there by October 2026, with an average game of 27 minutes.

Trickster Cards

Trickster has the most rule settings of any site here. Decks include the standard ace-high game, Joker-Joker-Ace, Joker-Joker-Deuce-Ace and Joker-Joker-Deuce-Deuce, plus Mirror, Suicide and Whiz. You can set when nil, blind nil and other blind bids are allowed, whether a blind nil player passes cards with their partner, and whether to play to a score or for a fixed number of hands. It has club games and scheduled games, and sells an ad-free option.

Apps

App Store ratings are as shown on each listing in October 2026.

Spades Plus

4.7 stars from 186,000 ratings. A large online room with Classic partnership spades, Solo, Mirror and Whiz, plus 16-player tournaments and knock-out challenges. You can set up a table with or without nil, blind nil and chat. Games are played for coins, with in-app purchases.

Spades Royale

4.8 stars from 176,000 ratings. Live online play in partner or solo mode, with nil and blind nil, leaderboards and chat, and a joker game. Like Spades Plus, it runs on coins with hourly and daily bonuses and in-app purchases.

VIP Spades

4.9 stars from 9,800 ratings. A social app with Pairs and Solo spades, Suicide, Joker-Joker-Ace, tournaments, leaderboards and player profiles. Its listing is rated 18+ for frequent simulated gambling and says it contains advertising and in-app purchases.

Hardwood Spades

Free, on Windows, Mac, Android, iPhone and iPad, Amazon devices and Xbox. Hardwood plays classic spades plus Mirror and individual spades, alone or online with real players, with 3D card effects, leaderboards and achievements. It says every game mode is free and that its paid extras are cosmetic only.

Spades Classic (MobilityWare)

4.8 stars from 276,000 ratings. Partnership spades against computer players, and it works offline. It has unlimited hints and undos and tracks your stats. An optional subscription removes ads.

Spades !!

4.3 stars from 449 ratings. A small offline game against the computer, with customised bid options. Its listing says blind bidding isn’t allowed.

Which is best?

• To play real people, start with World of Card Games or Trickster: both have private tables for friends and rated or club games, without coins.
• For house rules, Trickster. If your table plays with jokers or the deuces high, it’s the easiest place to play your own game.
• For an app with lots of players, Spades Plus, Spades Royale or VIP Spades. Be aware that all three are built around coins and purchases.
• For offline play, MobilityWare’s Spades Classic.
• For older players or anyone new to spades, a simple browser game is easiest: no download, no account and no coins. Larger screens help, so a tablet or computer is better than a phone.

Where SpadesBid fits

SpadesBid is a free spades game in the browser: classic four-player partnership spades, against the computer or with real people, and a private table you can share with friends. There’s no download, no account, no real-money play and nothing to buy. It doesn’t play offline, and a joker table is planned but not ready yet. Alongside the game, this site has the full rules, every common house rule, printable score sheets and a score keeper for games at a real table.
