SpadesBid is a free site for spades players. The name comes from the bid, the moment in every hand when you and your partner say how many tricks you’ll take, and the part of spades that decides most games.

What’s here

  • The game. Spades in your browser, full screen, with no download and no account. SpadesBid’s own table is still being built; until it’s ready, the game page plays the spades game from our sister site Rare Pike.
  • The rules. How to play spades, with a full scoring section, and the house rules tables play differently. Every rule is checked against published rule sources: Pagat, Bicycle, the Hoyle software rules, college intramural rules, the Grand Prix and Spades Connection tournament rules, and the rules of the major spades apps. Where tables disagree, the pages say so and say who plays what.
  • For the card table. Printable rules with a cheat sheet, score sheets and a tournament bracket, and a score keeper for your phone.

The rules our game plays

The game plays the standard American partnership game: bids from 1 to 13 or nil, 10 points a trick bid, 10 bags cost 100, nil worth 100, blind nil worth 200 when your team is 100 or more behind, and the first team to 500 wins. The house rules page lists the defaults and the alternatives.

Who runs it

SpadesBid is part of a small family of free card game sites, alongside PinochleRun, euchre.cards, CribbageBox and Rare Pike. The online games run on the same game server as Rare Pike’s.
